Variation in density and some structural features of wood of Eucalyptus saligna Sm. from Angola / Raul Manuel de Albuquerque Sardinha.

It was intended to assess not only the extent of variation of these characteristics in the population sampled but also the influence of growth rate and the effects of site conditions on the density of the wood. From this research it was also hoped to derive a more efficient sampling scheme for a large scale study to give reliable values form comparing differences between individual trees and to determine the extent to which limited sampling would give satisfactory estimates of the whole tree values. A range of climatic and environmental conditions within that part of Angola where E. saligna is planted was tested by selecting 2 sample plots from each of 3 different sites. Climatic data from Angola Weather Bureau stations in the vicinity of each sample plot were summarized for each of the years corresponding to those rings represent in basal disc.
