The application of tissue culture assays to these toxins has contributed to our understanding of their mode of action. This thesis presents the results of a systematic investigation of the sensivity to bacterial toxins of cell lines in tissue culture. Attention was focused on those bacteria involved in diarrhoeal disease. The toxins investigated included those produced by Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium difficile, Bacillus cereus and bacteria isolated from cases of malabsorption. Two aspects of the problem were highlighted: (i) the use of tissue cultures for detection and assay of bacterial toxins, and (ii) the use of tissue culture for elucidation of the biochemical mechanisms of toxins. In addition to those cell lines reported by previous investigators to be sensitive to toxins.Tipo de material | Biblioteca atual | Setor | Classificação | Situação | Previsão de devolução | Código de barras |
